Oman Visa Requirements for Indian Citizens

Oman visa for Indian citizens: eVisa route, the new free 14-day visa from 3 Aug 2026 (India not confirmed) and visa-free entry conditions. Checked 5 Nov 2026.

Indian citizens generally need a visa to visit Oman, which they apply for as an eVisa through the Royal Oman Police before departure. Oman introduced a new free 14-day tourist visa on 3 August 2026, but it only applies to nationalities that the authorities designate, and India has not been confirmed on that list. This guide explains what applies to Indian passport holders now and what to watch for.

What changed on 3 August 2026

Oman’s foreign ministry announced that amendments to the Executive Regulations of the Foreign Residence Law add a new free tourist visa valid for 14 days. It was published in Official Gazette No. 1659 on 2 August 2026 and took effect the next day. The visa is granted “upon request and in accordance with conditions” that the authority specifies, and holders can switch to another tourist visa category before the 14 days end, subject to that category’s fee and rules. The nationalities that qualify had not been named at the time of writing.

Does the free visa apply to Indians?

Not at present. India has not been named among the eligible nationalities, so Indian travellers should not plan around the free visa until the Royal Oman Police publishes a list that includes India. We will update this page if that happens.

Visa-free entry with another visa or residence permit

Esquire India reports that Indians can enter for up to two weeks without applying for an Omani visa if they hold a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan or a Schengen country. GCC residents in eligible professions are also covered. Because this concession depends on conditions that Oman can change, confirm it with the Royal Oman Police or your airline before you rely on it.

Everyone else: apply for the eVisa

Indian citizens who do not qualify for visa-free entry need to apply for an Omani eVisa online through the official Royal Oman Police portal before travel. The reports we reviewed do not state the current eVisa fee or validity for Indian applicants, so we do not quote figures. Check the fee and validity on the official portal when you apply, and avoid agents that add large markups.

What to carry

  • A passport with enough validity for your trip, usually at least six months.
  • Your eVisa approval, printed or on your phone.
  • A confirmed return or onward ticket and your hotel booking.
  • If you rely on the visa-free concession, the original visa or residence permit that qualifies you.

Common problems

  • Assuming the new free visa applies to Indians when India is not on the list.
  • Relying on the visa-free concession with a visa that is about to expire.
  • Applying through a lookalike website instead of the official portal.
