Pugdundee Safaris has announced the 2026 edition of its Walking & Mobile Safari, offering travellers an immersive five-day trekking and camping experience through the core and buffer zones of Satpura Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh. Limited to just ten guests per departure, the experience invites nature enthusiasts to explore the wilderness on foot, moving beyond conventional jeep safaris.
The journey combines guided forest treks, river crossings and visits to tribal villages with overnight stays at a dedicated mobile camp in the reserve’s buffer zone. Guests will stay in walk-in tents, enjoy freshly prepared meals cooked over campfires and experience evenings beneath the stars, accompanied by a team of experienced naturalists and a dedicated camp crew throughout the journey.
The experience begins at Denwa Backwater Escape, where guests can opt for a boat or jeep safari before embarking on the trekking programme. The following two days form the core of the adventure, featuring six to seven hours of walking through forest trails and along riverbanks, with breaks for leisurely lunches. Participants will also cross the Denwa River on foot at several points along the route.
Each evening brings a new campsite, with campfire gatherings, freshly prepared food and a chance to experience the forest after sunset. On the fourth day, the pace slows with the option of a relaxed breakfast or a birdwatching walk before guests trek back to the comfort of Denwa Backwater Escape. The itinerary balances physical activity with opportunities to appreciate Satpura’s natural surroundings at an unhurried pace.
The Walking & Mobile Safari requires a reasonable level of fitness, as daily walks last between five and seven hours and include some uphill stretches. Guests should also be comfortable with rustic camping facilities, including dry pit toilets, bucket showers, lantern lighting and intermittent mobile connectivity. These arrangements form part of the experience, allowing participants to disconnect from everyday distractions and spend time in a more natural setting.
With its limited group size and guided approach, Pugdundee Safaris’ Walking & Mobile Safari offers travellers an opportunity to experience Satpura’s forests, riverbanks and wildlife habitats at close quarters. The 2026 edition continues the company’s focus on immersive wilderness experiences, combining trekking, camping and naturalist-led exploration for travellers seeking a deeper connection with the forest.
