Fresh Bus enters long-haul market with Bengaluru-Hyderabad

Fresh Bus has entered the long-haul intercity segment with the launch of its Bengaluru–Hyderabad route, introducing an all-electric premium travel service on the 600-km-plus corridor connecting two major South Indian cities.

The route marks Fresh Bus’s first long-haul intercity operation and forms part of its plan to develop a scalable electric bus network across South India. The service will feature ultra-fast charging halts, which the company says will support efficient charging during the long-distance journey.

Fresh Bus will operate 13.5-metre, all-sleeper AC electric buses with 39 sleeper berths. The coaches will feature ergonomic berths, fresh bed linen, pillows and blankets, reading lights, charging points, a complimentary snack box and bottled water.

Safety features include fire extinguishers, speed-governed operations, emergency exits and hammers, CCTV cameras across the buses and alcohol checks for captains. The service will also include a mid-haul halt for passengers to rest and refresh during the journey.

At full deployment, the Bengaluru–Hyderabad service is expected to serve around 18,000 passengers a month. Fresh Bus is targeting initial occupancy of about 80%, with the figure expected to reach around 90% as the route matures, in line with occupancy levels across its established corridors.

Sudhakar Chirra, Founder & CEO, Fresh Bus, said the route would allow the company to demonstrate the viability of electric buses on longer journeys while maintaining comfort and safety. Fresh Bus currently operates 13 routes and has served 25.6 lakh passengers, with the new corridor forming part of its broader ambition to expand premium electric intercity mobility.
