Etihad Airways and Rail explore UAE air-rail connectivity

Etihad Airways and Etihad Rail have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore an integrated air-rail travel experience across the UAE, aimed at making it easier for visitors and residents to connect with destinations nationwide.

The partnership brings together the UAE’s national airline and railway operator to examine opportunities for a more integrated mobility network supporting tourism, economic diversification and sustainable transport.

A key area of focus will be improving connectivity between Zayed International Airport and Mohammed Bin Zayed City Passenger Station. The organisations will study the possibility of dedicated shuttle services to facilitate transfers between air and rail networks.

The two companies will also explore integrated air-and-rail booking options and passenger services at railway stations. These initiatives are intended to create a more coordinated journey from arrival at the airport through onward travel across the UAE.

Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, Etihad Airways, said the partnership would explore ways to connect air travellers with destinations beyond Abu Dhabi while supporting tourism growth and providing greater convenience.

Azza Al Suwaidi, Chief Operating Officer, Etihad Rail, said the collaboration reflects the UAE’s focus on integrating different modes of transport. She noted that since passenger rail services began earlier this year, Etihad Rail has continued developing the national network’s role in connecting cities and regions.
