IndiGo has revised charges for several ancillary services, including infant travel, unaccompanied minors and excess baggage, according to sources. The airline has not commented on the changes.
The fee for infants travelling on domestic IndiGo flights has reportedly increased to INR 3,000 from INR 2,200. Charges for infant travel on international routes vary depending on the destination and applicable service conditions.
Children aged above three days and below two years are classified as infants for travel purposes. IndiGo’s website currently lists a charge of INR 5,999 for unaccompanied minors on domestic flights and INR 12,999 on international flights.
Other ancillary services listed on the airline’s website include a INT 650 charge for Fast Forward services and INR 300 for travel certificates. Earlier rates for some of these services could not be immediately confirmed.
One source attributed the recent revisions to higher operational costs, particularly rising fuel prices. Airlines have increasingly relied on ancillary services such as baggage, priority and other optional services as an additional source of revenue.
IndiGo is India’s largest airline by domestic market share, with ancillary services forming part of its broader passenger offering. The latest revisions increase the cost of several optional services for travellers, although the airline has not publicly detailed the reasons behind the changes.
