Kenya Launches ‘Experience Wonder’ Campaign to Attract Global Travellers

The East African nation of Kenya has officially launched its new global tourism campaign titled “Experience Wonder”, aiming to significantly increase international tourist arrivals over the next few years. The announcement was made during ITB Berlin 2026, one of the world’s largest travel trade exhibitions, highlighting Kenya’s renewed focus on positioning itself as a leading global destination.

This strategic campaign targets an ambitious goal of welcoming 5 million international visitors by 2027, nearly doubling its current tourism numbers. The initiative reflects a broader effort to diversify the country’s tourism offerings and attract a wider range of global travellers.

Moving Beyond Safaris: A New Tourism Identity

Traditionally known for its iconic wildlife safaris and national parks, Kenya is now reshaping its global image. The “Experience Wonder” campaign focuses on promoting a wide spectrum of travel experiences beyond safaris.

Tourists can now explore:

  • Stunning coastal beaches along the Indian Ocean

  • Rich cultural heritage and local traditions

  • Adventure tourism including trekking and wildlife expeditions

  • Luxury and wellness travel experiences

By highlighting these diverse offerings, Kenya aims to appeal to modern travellers seeking immersive and meaningful journeys rather than conventional sightseeing trips.

Strong Focus on Indian Travellers

India has emerged as a key source market for Kenya’s tourism growth. Currently, Indian travellers contribute a notable share of total tourist arrivals, and the new campaign places special emphasis on attracting this segment.

With increasing outbound travel from India, Kenya is positioning itself as an ideal destination for:

  • Family holidays

  • Honeymoon trips

  • Luxury and experiential travel

  • Destination weddings

The tourism board plans to strengthen its outreach in India through digital campaigns, travel partnerships, and targeted promotions.

Supporting Growth Through Policy and Connectivity

To support this ambitious tourism target, Kenya is also introducing several initiatives to make travel more accessible and convenient. One of the key steps includes the implementation of a streamlined Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system, simplifying entry procedures for international visitors.

Additionally, efforts are being made to enhance global air connectivity by increasing international flight routes and partnerships with major airlines. These measures are expected to play a crucial role in boosting tourist inflow.
