Marriott and Sun Group Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Marriott International, a hospitality giant around the world, has announced a major expansion move in Vietnam through a strategic partnership agreement signed with Sun Group. This partnership will result in the opening of 10 new hotels and resorts in the country. This move is a major milestone for the tourism and hospitality industry in Vietnam.

This partnership was signed in Phu Quoc Island, which is gaining prominence as a global travel destination.

The new properties will be built in prime locations like Phu Quoc and Vung Tau. Collectively, these hotels are set to contribute around 4,500 hotel rooms (keys) to Vietnam.

The hotels are slated to be operational between 2027 and 2030. This timeline is in sync with Vietnam’s long-term tourism development plan and the global interest for premium tourism products.

Boost to Vietnam’s Tourism Industry

Vietnam has been developing as one of the fastest-growing tourism markets in Asia, which is considered an emerging travel and tourism market for leisure and business travelers. The addition of new luxury and lifestyle hotels will help Vietnam consolidate its position on the global tourism map.

Marriott’s partnership with Sun Group is designed to help Vietnam become a world-class tourism market, providing travelers with a range of accommodation types, including premium, lifestyle, and resort hotels.

Phu Quoc is also becoming a popular tourism spot, given its pristine beaches, modern tourism infrastructure, and presence of international investments.

Strategic Vision Behind the Partnership

The partnership is a result of a vision that aims to improve the hospitality industry in Vietnam through large-scale development opportunities.

The partnership combines the expertise of Sun Group, which has developed many infrastructure and tourism-related projects in Vietnam, with Marriott’s global brand reputation, operational expertise, and broad portfolio of brands.

The partnership is also seen to bring Marriott brands to the new properties that the partnership is developing, which will cater to a broad range of travelers with different tastes, whether for luxury or business travelers.

Apart from the tourism sector, the construction of the hotels is also expected to have a positive impact on the local economy. This is because large-scale hospitality projects usually provide employment opportunities and enhance infrastructure development.

In other destinations such as Phu Quoc and Vung Tau, the construction of the hotels is expected to improve connectivity and increase spending.
