Europe-based hospitality real estate developer and investor, Omnam Group, announces the opening of The Lake Como EDITION; a highly anticipated luxury hotel property set on the western shores of Lake Como, Italy. Acquired in late 2021, by Bain Capital and Omnam under a fund managed by Kryalos SGR and operating under Marriott International’s EDITION Hotels brand, the hotel represents a carefully executed redevelopment of the historic Hotel Britannia Excelsior. The project reflects Omnam’s distinctive approach to value creation: identifying architecturally significant assets in prime destinations and transforming them into globally relevant hospitality experiences through strategic brand partnerships, meticulous design, and disciplined project execution.
Under the leadership of Italy Country Manager Yaniv Medalsy, Project Manager Shay Zabari, and Omnam’s global team, redevelopment began in April 2022 with the goal of creating a property that seamlessly balances the palazzo’s 19th-century heritage with contemporary luxury. Key interventions included preserving most of the historic façade, while introducing an all-new drop-off area for arrivals, reducing the number of rooms to enlarge accommodations, and adding a terrace restaurant, Renzo, serving all-day dining in a space that offers panoramic lake views.
The development brings together an international roster of collaborators, including architecture and interiors by Neri&Hu and De.Tales, a signature culinary concept by Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco, wellness programming by The Longevity Suite, and art curated by Visto alongside Omnam’s in-house project leadership, design, and operational team, and supported by Bain Capital asset management team. Together, these partners have created a destination where contemporary elegance meets the timeless natural beauty of Lake Como.
Seeking to bring a fresh perspective to one of Europe’s most traditional design destinations, the interiors and architectural direction of The Lake Como EDITION strike a refined balance between modern conceptual ideas and a deep respect for the building’s 19th-century heritage. The design seamlessly integrates contemporary forms with the local design heritage, connecting the property to its lakeside setting while maximising natural light, views, and spatial proportion throughout.
